The concept and expressions of gender are so quickly expanding for our youth and the facts are: being in quarantine and needing to learn and socialize virtually have led to less gender freedom for our young people - this conversation is more important than ever.

This workshop will expand on the question "What does gender have to do with it?", and provide space for participants to talk about and answer "what is gender and why does it organize so much of our lives?"

Through a deep dive into our own gender identity development, we will cover language & definitions for LGBTQ+ terms, and approaches & strategies for creating gender inclusive environments in youth programs and beyond. This training will focus mainly on gender identity formation for youth in grades 4 - 12.

This training will be held on Zoom.

Learning Goals
Participants will:
* Unpack the concept of gender with other participants
* Examine different cultural influences on the ideas of gender & sexuality
* Have opportunities to share and learn from other individuals and organizations
* Leave with resources and tools for continuing the conversations at your organization.

"Takebacks":
* Personal reflection of our own gender biases and identity
* Definitions for common understanding of LGBTQ+ terms
* Understanding of how gender informs and structures many interactions with youth, families, colleagues, and communities
* Resources to support youth and families on LGBTQ+ issues
